On 9th November, CivSoc hosted their first ever Graduate and Undergraduate Recruitment Evening with nine companies attending, invited by current and ex-students.

Speakers from each company took to the stage for ten minutes to describe their experiences and what opportunities they could offer students such as ourselves. It was interesting to see such variety in the presentations given, with attendees ranging from chairmen and directors to Bristol graduates who were in our shoes only a few years ago. The event was a huge success with 65 students and 15 representatives from industry attending, alongside several members of the faculty, and we hope to guide next year's committee in organising something similar. - Chris Papaioannou

Feedback about the event was quoted as follows -

Sally Heslop - Head of Civil Engineering Department - "I hope it will become a much valued annual event in our Department calendar."

Jane Friery - Graduate Structural Engineer at BuroHappold - "thank you ... for hosting such a successful evening – and thank you for inviting us to speak at it!"

Gavin Thompson - Chairman of Happold Foundation - "I was very impressed with the students I met and the evening in general."

Ross Smith - Buildings Associate at Ramboll - "Thank you for the opportunity to present at your event last Wednesday evening. We enjoyed ourselves and hope that it was useful for you all too ... please feel free to pass on my contact details to whoever may be organising a similar event next year."

Hayley Raven - Transportation Highways Lead at CH2M - "A pleasure to present at what seemed a very successful and useful event for you all!
