What is CPD?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) are flexible and responsive opportunities to learn, tailored to meet the needs of individuals, schools and organisations. These can comprise:

• Workshops
• Short courses
• Educational consultancy and mentorship

Whether you are at the start of your career in education or an experienced practitioner we want to foster your desire to learn more about education and develop your practice.

How we work with schools

We have a number of existing models for how we work with schools, but we are flexible and can run innovative, bespoke training to meet your needs. Training can take place in your school or at the School of Education. Our current models include:

Collaborative school-led courses (non-accredited)

These courses might focus on specific areas such as leadership or assessment. We can also contribute sessions on what current academic research says about these issues and provide guidance for teachers on carrying out action research projects.

Accredited school-based programmes

We can accredit school courses at master’s level if their aims and means of assessment align with one of our master’s units at the School of Education/

Participants would be enrolled at an individual level for accreditation. However, there would be a reduction in costs for a group taking an accredited unit.

Consultancy

Our highly knowledgeable staff can offer a range of services to schools. This could include supporting schools with curriculum development, implantation and evaluation of school improvement initiatives and developing leadership skills.

We have also helped schools to think about how they can bring a more research-orientated approach to their daily work and critically adopt evidence-based practice.
