Blackboard templates
Digital Learning Environment development - Blackboard templates
We are currently consulting with Faculties and Schools on the design and implementation of faculty- and school-specific templates for Blackboard courses running in 2020-21.
Examples of the new 2020 templates
This template project is part of our bigger DEO-led project, on creating University of Bristol core standards for Blackboard. The aim of the core standards project is to ensure that learning information is current, available, and easy for students to find, and that students feel supported when undertaking online or blended activities. Core standards are designed to clearly articulate the minimum online learning provision for students. They are a base on which to build and extend our provision. Importantly, a standards-led approach should not constrain disciplinary/subject learning requirements or the adoption of new teaching approaches.
The three overarching ideas for templates
- Consistent approaches to better support our students and improve their experience of online provision, along with more efficient and resilient course management; for example, by use of “standard” structures, instructions, and workflows where available.
- Coherent design to support consistency, create online learning communities, and develop our students’ digital capabilities and confidence.
- A standardised foundation to build on, allowing for innovation in teaching and the use of technology, as well as specific disciplinary educational requirements.
