Child Dental Health

Information regarding treatment provided for children at Bristol Dental School.

Welcome

We are really pleased that you have chosen the Bristol Dental School to provide treatment for your child. We are looking forward to providing a single course of care and working with you  to achieve better oral health for your child.

All children we care for, are looked after by our student dentists. They have already done a lot of training before they begin to look after children and one of our senior dentists will always be close by. Our students are with us just once a week so you can see how important keeping your appointment is. In fact, if you find it difficult to keep these appointments, we will consider returning your child’s care to your registered dentist.

Space in our clinic is a bit crowded. Once your child is happy coming in on their own, please let them do so. It does great things for their confidence; we can come to collect you at any time, and it makes our job much easier.

At the end of Final year, our students are expected to ‘present’ their care for a young person to the examiners, so that they, too, can see what good work has been going on.

If your child is planned to be a ‘presentation case’ in this way, it will be very important to the student that you attend regularly for care. Please do everything you can to help them with this.

However good we are, we can’t do it without your help!

We shall be asking about and suggesting changes for you at home to help improve your child’s dental health. Please assist us with this - it will make all the difference. And please do ask if we can make anything clearer.
