BDS Dentistry

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree at Bristol will provide you with a strong set of core skills essential for contemporary clinical dental practice. You will engage with clinical practice early on and start to work with patients in the second year.
BDT Dental Therapy
UCAS code: B760, 3 years full-time.
This degree enables you to train alongside Dental Hygiene and Dentistry students to give you experience of working in highly integrated, professional dental teams from the start. You’ll be taught by our experienced and passionate teaching team and benefit from a high staff to student ratio for clinical supervision.
BDH Dental Hygiene
UCAS code: B770, 3 years full-time.
The Bachelor of Dental Hygiene provides integrated team training, including small group teaching and specialised clinical placements delivered by passionate staff. The programme has a core focus on prevention, equipping students to meet the scope of practice of a Dental Hygienist by the end of the three years.
BDS Gateway to Dentistry
UCAS code: A208, 6 years full-time.
This course is open to applicants who have the potential to become a dentist but do not meet the entry criteria to apply directly to our five-year course. Meeting eligibility criteria and successful completion of the Gateway year allows automatic progression onto BDS Dentistry.
International Foundation Programme
1 year full-time.
The International Foundation Programme will prepare international students to study Dentistry in the UK. It has been designed for international students who have completed their high school qualifications but require additional study to start an undergraduate course.

Orthodontic Therapy
Our one year programme is suited to Dental Nurses, Hygienists and Therapists, with a mix of lectures, study clubs, and hands-on clinical training, leading to registration with the General Dental Council as an Orthodontic Therapist.
Continuous Professional Development
Our CPD courses cover a range of topics across Periodontology, Implantology, Oral Surgery, and CBCT.
