2026 Cohort

Harry Chevassut (MSci)
Harry graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2026. During his final year, he undertook a Master's project in the group of Prof. David Spring, developing novel modes of cysteine bioconjugation for the construction of Antibody-Drug Conjugates.
Adam Churchill (MChem)
Adam graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2026. During his final year project he worked under the supervision of Dr Ben Partridge, investigating the synthesis of boronic ester-functionalised saturated heterocycles via copper-catalysed conjugate borylation. During the summer of 2025, he worked under the supervision of Prof. Lee Brammer solving the crystal structures of novel coordination compounds using SC-XRD.
Callum Dutton (MChem)
Callum graduated from the University of York in 2026. During his final year, he worked under the supervision of Prof. Helen Sneddon, working on the optimization and the development of a substrate scope for a transition metal-free route to isoquinolinones.
Romy Higho (MChem)
Romy graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2026. She completed an EPSRC funded summer studentship investigating convergent approaches for the synthesis of ynone trifluoroborate salts under the supervision of Prof. Joseph Harrity. She continued this work for her final year project.
Sam Murdoch (MSci)
Sam graduated from the University of Bristol in 2025. During his final year research project, he worked under the supervision of Prof. Anthony Davis to synthesise a biomimetic carbohydrate receptor aiming to target axial functional groups. After graduating he worked as an analytical chemist at TetraTech, using ICP-MS and flow chemistry to test for hazardous environmental contaminants.
Linh Phung (MChem)
Linh graduated from the University of Durham in 2024. In her final year, she undertook her industrial placement at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where she completed her Master's project under the supervision of Dr. James Mui and Dr. William Brittain. At Vertex, her work focused on the synthesis of novel heterocycles and evaluation of their physicochemical properties. After her graduation, she worked as a medicinal chemist at MSD for a year.
Hannah Poulton-Haselier (MSci)
Hannah graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2026. In her final year research project, supervised by Prof. Ross Denton, she worked towards the total synthesis of isodunnianol, a project that earned her a presentation prize at the Society for Natural Sciences Undergraduate Conference in Bath. During the summer of 2025, she undertook an RSC funded studentship with Prof. Hon Wai Lam, which worked towards the synthesis of caged polycyclic hydrocarbons that could be used as bioisosteres for benzene.
James Spencer (MChem)
James graduated from the University of Southampton in 2026, For his final year of study, he undertook an industrial placement at GSK under the supervision of Dr Claire Dooley, developing a C(sp2)-C(sp3) electrochemical cross-coupling. Previously, at the University of Southampton under the supervision of Dr Jonathan George, he worked on the total biomimetic synthesis of dauresorcinol A via a polyene cascade reaction.
Ethan Tripp-Edwards (MSci)
Ethan completed Chemistry with Scientific Computing at the University of Bristol. In his final year Ethan worked in the Price group using machine learning to screen fused ring electron acceptors for thin film crystallisation.
Finlay Williams (MChem)
Finlay graduated from the University of Southampton in 2026. For his master’s project, he worked under Prof. David Harrowven developing a photochemical method for synthesising fluorinated azole-benzenes, eliminating the need for palladium catalysis. In the summer of 2025, he investigated benzofuranone based photoswitches under the supervision of Dr George Williams.
Ellen Young (MSci)
Ellen graduated from the University of Bristol with an MSci in Chemistry in 2025. She spent her final year in the Crump group investigating the biosynthesis of the polyketide antibiotic mupirocin. The focus of the project was to determine the function of biosynthetic enzymes using in-vitro assays.
