Andrea Gallio awarded RSC IBDG Emerging Investigator Prize

Dr Andrea Gallio, Senior Research Associate in the School of Chemistry, has been awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry's Inorganic Biochemistry Discussion Group (IBDG) Emerging Investigator Award, recognising outstanding contributions from early-career researchers in the field.

The award citation highlights Dr Gallio’s work on the exchangeable heme concept and the integration of heme homeostasis into broader metabolic regulation, noting an exceptional level of intellectual ambition and independence. This research reframes fundamental questions in tetrapyrrole biology and opens new conceptual space for the field.

Dr Gallio will receive the award and present a lecture at the IBDG Jubilee Meeting, held at the University of East Anglia on 3rd and 4th September 2026.
