This is the leading research journal in the field, having been published continuously for 80 years. Its current Impact Factor is 9.6. It reports original research findings on fundamental principles of colloid and interface science, as well as conceptually novel applications of these in advanced materials, nanomedicine, energy, environmental technologies, catalysis, and related fields.
Taking over from Professor Martin Malmsten (University of Copenhagen), Julian took up the role on 1st July on a dual basis along with Professor Debora Berti (University of Florence).
Julian worked at the School of Chemistry from 1993 until his retirement in 2024, becoming an Emertus Professor. His research interests spanned colloids, surfactants, and applications of neutron scattering.
