Hardware and capabilities

Below is a complete list of the equipment available and the capabilities available to support either separate or multiple tenancy access.

A fully virtualised service consisting of award-winning Fujitsu PRIMENERGY Servers, Fujitsu Eternus Storage and the VMware hypervisor, which enables the following functions:

  • Storage and networking with layer 2/3 switching and routing and layer 3/4/7 firewalling.
  • Virtual machines, containers, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and data storage services for the execution of models of real-world phenomena on a mixture of CPU and GPU processors.
  • The use of Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) in the Datacentre and at the Edge.
  • The ability (including tooling) to orchestrate using templates / Infrastructure as Code to create virtual networks, compute, and data services on-demand.
  • The ability to utilise/burst into cloud services, utilising the SDDC orchestration and management tools, thanks to a VMware Cloud Foundation software stack.

A fully orchestrated, Open Standards based SDN, consisting of Juniper Core Networking, Fortinet Firewalls, Juniper Mist WI-FI and Ericsson Private 5G, to support the following functions:

  • Datacentre Networking (REN DC Network Fabric) - scalable, non-blocking
  • Core Networking (REN Core Network)
  • 5G SA Packet Core (REN 5G Packet Core Network)
  • Client Network - Supporting desktops and laptops
  • 5G RAN and Wi-Fi 6 sites
  • Mobile Edge Compute (MEC) - note the MEC virtualization (NFV) in the Datacentre and at the Edge
  • IOT Gateway (s) provided by Apache Spark, Apache Flink, and Apache Beam, which can process large volumes of data in real time as well as batch mode, and can work with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
  • Apache Kafka for building real-time data pipelines and streaming apps
  • FluentD, a lightweight unified logging layer that allows the collection, aggregation, and forwarding of log data from various sources to different destinations
  • Apache ActiveMQ, a fast message broker that supports many cross-language clients and protocols
  • Hadoop HDFS, PostgreSQL, and Apache Cassandra, which enable storage of raw, enriched, and curated data sets in structured, semi-structured and non-structured formats
  • PostgreSQL, a powerful open-source relational database management system (RDBMS) that offers a wide range of features and capabilities
  • Apache Cassandra, an open-source distributed NoSQL database management system known for its ability to handle large amounts of data across multiple commodity servers while offering high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability
  • Apache Superset, an open-source data exploration and visualization platform that enables users to create and share interactive dashboards and reports.

Consisting of CI/CD tooling, monitoring, orchestration and configuration management tools and a service management platform. This includes:

  • Microsoft Active Directory, the authoritative source of authentication
  • Azure Active Directory, synchronised with Microsoft AD, enabling cloud-based authentication and MFA
  • DataDog, a SaaS based monitoring and analytics tool for information technology (IT) and DevOps teams
  • GitLab DevOps supported by Red Hat Ansible and Hashicorp Terraform providing infrastructure orchestration capabilities
  • Vulnerability Management service delivered from the Qualys cloud platform.
  • High pixel density LED panels forming a circular shape to enables 360 degrees viewing/ collaborative workspace for up to 8-10 users.
  • LED display: 120 degrees wide viewing angle both vertically and horizontally with a total resolution of 14,208 x 2,160 @120Hz, and up to 1000 nits brightness.
  • Surround sound audio that can produce object based audio, and support binaural wireless headphones.
  • Motion tracking and active stereo glasses to provide realistic Mixed Reality rendering via Unity (getReal3D) or Unreal Engine (nDisplay) and a cluster of 8 visualisation render node.
  • Array of 8 depth cameras provide possibility of integration of Computer Vision Applications - 3D and VR applications e.g. object recognition, gesture recognition, and real-time scene analysis.
  • Supports 2D applications - e.g. image viewers, video players, web browsers, 360-degree video playback etc.
  • Supports 4K display and audio from external devices (wireless or cables) – e.g. game consoles, laptops, phones.
  • Ericsson Private 5G (“EP5G”) connectivity.
  • Client Network to support 12 x 100M/1/2.5/5/10GbE and 36 x 100M/1/2.5GbE PoE access ports. The EX4400-48 has 2x 100Gbe QSFP28 ports which can be used as uplinks or virtual chassis connections and offers a choice of an optional 4 x 1/10GbE SFP+, or 4 x 10/25GbE SFP28 module, supports EVPN-VXLAN extending an end-to-end fabric from campus core to distribution to the access layer, as well as IP Layer 3 routing services at the edge.
