Ideation Workshop
This workshop is an opportunity to bring together people from across our broad community to either create new or develop existing research ideas around the theme of "Postcolonial natural history collections and museum and archive practices".
Who is this for?
Brigstow aims to support radically interdisciplinary and co-produced research, so we’re looking for teams from a number of disciplines. While we aim to be as broad as possible in who we fund, here is a flavour of the type of people we had in mind.
We’re looking to build research teams that span both academic research staff and collaborators from beyond of the University of Bristol. You could be from the worlds of earth science, environmental humanities, animal studies, botany or post-colonial studies, or be engaging with post-colonial practice of museum collections through your creative or community-based research.
You might already have an idea and be looking to extend your team or just be interested in the topic and want to connect with people to build something fresh. No matter what stage you’re at, we’d love you to join us.
What to expect
The event will be facilitated by the Brigstow Team, and will use methods that will help kick start your creativity. We’ll also have colleagues from Bristol Museum and Special Collections at the University of Bristol. Throughout the workshop, our hope is that it will generate exciting and inspiring early interdisciplinary research topics and ideas that could be worked up into more solid plans and projects during the Connections Funding stage of our new thematic funding cycle.
Pastries and tea and coffee will be provided to get your creative juices flowing.
Date: Thursday 5 June 2025, 9.30- 12.30pm
