From the Personal to the Planetary: Bridging Racial and Climate Justice
Join this Personal to the planetary event for talks by Natalie Hyacinth and Yaz Brien
In 2025 the UK experienced the hottest summer on record, and an increase in racist violence on our streets. What do these things have in common? Who benefits from climate denialism and community divisions? And how can we tackle them both to ensure a safe and dignified life for us all?
Over the last year Natalie Hyacinth and Yaz Brien, two local Bristolians who worry about the future of our planet while living with the impacts of racism, have been asking themselves these questions.
On Sunday 16th November we invite you to join in this conversation. We’ll hear some thoughts and prompts from Natalie and Yaz, before having conversations with our neighbours and strangers about how these issues impact us all.
Come along to build bridges, make sense of this time we’re in, and think ahead to creating futures we really want. The talk is open to all and there will be snacks provided!
Yaz Brien is an activist and trainer with interests in climate justice and futures.
Natalie Hyacinth is a composer, researcher, cultural geographer with interests in blue environments.
‘From Personal to Planetary: Bridging Racial and Climate Justice’ is part of a wider talk programme organised by the Personal to the Planetary fellows - a group of ten activists, academics, artists and scientists who have spent ten months collaboratively researching the climate emergency. Personal to the Planetary is a joint Brigstow Institute and Cabot Institute for the Environment initiative.
