Access to Medical Records

In order to process your donation, the Bequest Office maintains secure records of donation, including information shared on the consent form, and information gathered after your death. By completing and returning a consent form, you agree for your information to be retained in our secure database. Your details will not be shared with third parties, unless it is necessary as part of our bequest enquiry or acceptance processes.
Personal data will be securely deleted when the information held is no longer needed as part of the bequest
process.

After a potential donor’s death, the Bequest Office will contact your general practice or hospital doctors to find out your background medical history and cause of death. This a necessary part of the donation process to determine if your body will be suitable for donation.

If a bequest is accepted, in certain circumstances we may request copies of your medical records or medical images. This information would be used to further assist in Anatomical Teaching or Research.

If you have any questions or would like  more information on how we process your data, please contact the Bequest Office.
