Suzanne Collins

I joined the Digital Education Office at the beginning of 2017 as an Online and Blended Learning Designer working with the Bristol Futures project. In this role, I worked with teams of academic experts in the fields of Innovation and Enterprise, Sustainable Futures and Global Citizenship to design and build engaging online activities and components, using FutureLearn and third-party tools. As of February 2018, I have been working as a Senior Digital Education Developer. I am mainly still working with the Bristol Futures project, now working to develop a suite of optional units which will be primarily online and blended. These units aim to be innovate, interdisciplinary experiences for students to develop their skills during their studies, using digital tools to facilitate and engage. I also run course design workshops with academic teams using rapid curriculum development methods, such as ABC [https://www.ucl.ac.uk/teaching-learning/case-studies/2016/mar/designing-programmes-and-modules-abc-curriculum-design], and provide expertise and advice on designing online and blended courses.

Background

I have always been interested and involved in technology enhanced learning, having completed an MA Education with e-learning pedagogy as a main focus, and having previously worked for the Open University. Prior to joining the DEO, I was a University Teacher of English in the University of Turku, Finland. Within this role, I designed and delivered online and blended courses (alongside traditional classroom-based courses) to undergraduate and postgraduate students in English for Academic Purposes.
