Before taking over leadership of the Digital Education Development team, I was a Learning Technologist at the University for 5 years.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) and an assessor for their Certified Membership Scheme. Specialist areas of expertise include design and delivery of staff development programmes, effective use of Virtual learning Environments (VLEs), blended learning, effective course design, and online approaches to marking and feedback.
Prior to joining the University of Bristol, I worked for 3 years as a Learning Technologist at the University of Bath, where my responsibilities included supporting the implementation of key aspects of the Learning and Teaching strategy which involved a transition to the Moodle VLE platform. Before moving into HE, I was an e-learning development Officer in Further Education, leading the implementation of a major e-learning staff development programme for BECTA. Prior to that I was a Librarian and taught in Further Education and the secondary sector. I have an MSc in Information and Library Management from the University of Bristol, and a PGCE from the Institute of Education in London.
