Parents and carers
At Bristol we recognise that our relationship is not only with students but also with their parents, guardians and carers. On this page we hope we can answer some of your questions.
- The University's 24–hour emergency telephone number is +44 (0)117 33 112233.
- Our new students pages are a good source of information for students adapting to university life.
- Although the University cannot act in loco parentis, we do endeavour to support all our students during their time with us. We offer a student counselling service and have an action plan in the unlikely event of an outbreak of meningitis. Cases of meningitis can cause a great deal of anxiety, often unnecessarily. We have compiled a list of meningitis questions and answers.
- It may be useful to know some of the University's key dates, such as term dates or dates for open days and degree ceremonies.
- If you are coming to visit, consult our maps and guides page for travel information. You may also find the VisitBristol and Hotels near Bristol sites useful for information on where to stay.
- You may be looking for advice on what kind of computer to buy before your son/daughter starts at Bristol University.
