The University guarantees accommodation for the first year of study to all new, full-time undergraduate students, provided that:
This guarantee applies to mature students as well.
Undergraduates looking to live with other mature students should note that on their accommodation application. You may also want to consider Student Houses as they can provide a more independent living environment.
For postgraduate students the University allocates over 600 single rooms and a small number of family and couple flats. Postgraduate students who pay fees at the overseas rate may be offered accommodation, but all postgraduates are encouraged to apply as soon as they have accepted an offer of study.
Mature students often take up positions as Hall Tutors, Senior Residents or Student Wardens. Senior Residents look after the day-to-day running of the Student Houses and receive subsidised accommodation in return. For more information please visit the subsidised accommodation section on the Accommodation Office website.
Students wishing to live in the private sector can contact the Accommodation Office for information and advice on renting in Bristol. We can also issue passwords to access the Accommodation Office website to view the Property Search and Student Bulletin Board facilities. Staff at the Accommodation Office will also check contracts and give advice on tenant/landlord disputes.
