  • VitaMinds
    Free mental health support from the NHS, offering evidence-based talking therapies as well as advice and guidance on community services.
  • Nilaari: Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic counselling
    Nilaari offers therapies for people experiencing a range of issues, including stress, worry, general anxiety, and low self-esteem and confidence.

Online support

  • Headspace
    Headspace is an app that teaches you how to meditate. Free two-week trial available. Free to students with a Spotify Premium account.
  • SAM app
    Manage your anxiety through self-help exercises and private reflection.
  • Talk Campus
    Share your worries and feelings any time of day or night with students from all over the world using our TalkCampus app. Use your University of Bristol email address to access the app for free.
  • Your Amazing Mind podcast: Anxiety
    Brian's story and how accepting he had a problem was the first stage on his journey to getting help with anxiety.

Student-led support

  • Bristol SU Wellbeing Network
    Brings together student groups and societies focused on promoting wellbeing through their events and activities. It's a great way to make friends and build your support network.
  • Students Against Depression
    Peer advice, information, guidance and resources to those affected by low mood, depression and suicidal thinking.
  • Nightline
    Bristol Nightline offers a confidential, impartial and non-advisory listening and information service.

    Explores the causes of loneliness and explains how  it relates to mental health problems. Gives practical tips to help manage feelings of loneliness, and other places you can go for support.

Self-esteem

Self-harm and suicidal thoughts

  • Bristol Mental Health Crisis Support
    24-hour contact information if you or someone else is experiencing a mental health crisis.
  • Stay Alive
    This app has useful information and tools to help you stay safe in crisis. You can use it if you are having thoughts of suicide or if you are concerned about someone else.
  • Calm Harm
    The Calm Harm app provides tasks to help you resist or manage the urge to self-harm.
  • SHOUT
    Text 'Shout' to 85258 to receive support when in crisis from a trained volunteer. They can help with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, relationship problems, bullying or if you're feeling overwhelmed.
  • Self-injury Support
    Online and telephone support services for women and girls affected by self-injury, trauma and abuse.
