The Beacon Scholarship
Help for financially disadvantaged students from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, so that they can study at undergraduate level.
This award covers two thirds of the combined cost of tuition fees, living costs and one return economy airfare, and is jointly funded by the Beacon Equity Trust and the University of Bristol. In 2020, living costs were approximately £10,900.
Eligibility
Applicants must be nominated by your current school head. Once you receive an offer of admission from a Beacon partner university, you will be invited to apply for a Beacon Scholarship. Evaluations are made by the Beacon Equity Trust and will be based on:
- academic ability;
- ability to demonstrate financial need;
- leadership potential;
- financial need;
- being a ‘change-maker’.
