Danielle Ward, PhD Social Policy
Background
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and a Master of Public Health in Global Health from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Previous posts include an internship at the Organization of American States and a permanent position within a health policy research firm, both based in Washington, D.C.
I also held a one-year Fellowship position with American Hospital Management Company, based at the local hospital in St. John’s, Antigua.
Research topic
My PhD is a mix of Social Policy and Sociology and is focused on the health of older West Indian women and men who moved to the United Kingdom during the so-called ‘Windrush years’. Specifically, I am interested in how the process of migration ie, the move, establishing their lives and resulting experiences, has (from their perspective) impacted their health and well-being today.
