Conference News Conversation Analysis
24 July 2017
‘Getting Good Support’ (Strand 1) presented at the International Conversation Analysis in Clinical Encounters on July 12-14th in Bristol.
A gathering of some of the top names in Conversation Analysis (CA) research took place in Bristol in July 2017, and we were privileged to be part of the organisation of the conference, as well as giving two papers about our project. This was a chance to engage with applied CA, which has developed globally within medicine, health care and increasingly in social care. Our papers were given by Val Williams and Joseph Webb, and both related to our data on dementia, with Joe talking about ‘Quizzing the Quizzes’ and Val talking about the reminiscence talk with people with dementia. We made lots of very useful contacts with other researchers and practitioners in the field of dementia, and the overall thrust of our user-centred research stimulated loads of discussion and debate. Anonymised versions of our presentations are on the ‘Presentations’ page of this website.
