Saltford Boathouse

The University Boathouse is based at Saltford, halfway to Bath on the River Avon. The stretch of the River Avon at Saltford is one of the most tranquil in the South West.

The setting is ideal for both term time training/competition and out of term tranquil, recreational, lazy summer evenings.

Rowing club

The University of Bristol Boat Club is extremely successful, with over half of its members learning to row for the first time, and competing in all major national rowing events. The scheme has been supported by Sport England, British Rowing and sponsors/Alumni of the University of Bristol.

Coaching team

We have an excellent coaching team which includes our Head Coach Cameron Kennedy, with a history of success in British & European University rowing in the UK who has developed many athletes to their first International teams. We have Edward Bloomfield as our assistant coach who has rowed and coached at St Edwards School Oxford, rowed at Royal Chester Rowing Club and has studied Sport & exercise Science at University of Chester. A number of our rowers have gone on to represent Great Britain at World Championships and the club will be aiming to support and produce athletes with international aspirations.

Equipment

All our crews row in very good boats such as Empacher, Hudson and Vespoli.

Boathouse facility investment

£1.2 million invested in the boathouse facility opened by Olympic medallist in September 2014.
