Applied Foreign Languages

Applied Foreign Languages (AFL) are modern languages units open to undergraduate students across the University. We offer programmes for students on particular degree courses, as well as open units that are available to all students on 120/130 credit degree courses.

Register for open units

Online registration for 2016 AFL open units is available for:

  • New students (first, second or final year students who have never done a language open unit at the University of Bristol before)
  • Returning students (for students who studied a language unit last year)
  • If you are a native speaker of any of the languages on offer you are not permitted to study that language.
  • If you are a bilingual speaker of any of the languages on offer you may be permitted to study that language.

Please note that for 2016-17, teaching will start from Week 1.
