The School of Modern Languages teaches single and joint honours degrees in the following languages (links point to our undergraduate prospectus):

  • Czech
    Six joint honours degrees available only, four years full-time
  • French
    Single and 12 joint honours degrees available, four years full-time
  • German
    Single and 11 joint honours degrees available, four years full-time
  • Italian
    Single and 11 joint honours degrees available, four years full-time
  • Portuguese
    Ten joint honours degrees available only, four years full-time
  • Russian
    Single and nine joint honours degrees available, four years full-time
  • Spanish and Catalan
    Single and ten joint honours degrees available, four years full-time

Note: Apart from French, each language can be studied from beginners’ level (ab initio) in most degree combinations.

Year abroad

Our students spend their third year living and studying abroad in a country relevant to their degree, with students studying two languages splitting the year between two relevant countries.

Graduate career

Between 70% and 80% of our students find graduate-level employment within six months of graduation.
