Dr Carrie Weidner appointed as a Lecturer in Physics

1 November 2022

Congratulations to QE-CDT and QET Labs' Dr Carrie Weidner, who has been appointed as a Lecturer in Physics

Quantum Engineering CDT and QET Labs' Dr Carrie Weidner has been appointed as a Lecturer in Physics, starting from 1 November. We wish Carrie the best of luck as she starts this new role.

Carrie is continuing her research at QET Labs, where she is working on experimental and theoretical atomic physics and quantum control. In particular, she is interested in how we can use atoms of various temperatures, from hot (i.e., room temperature) to ultracold (i.e., 100 nK) as sensors of inertial motion and magnetic fields and simulators of more complex quantum systems. Her group is also studying how one can robustly control quantum systems in the presence of deleterious noise. Carrie enjoys working at the interface between pure and applied science and loves to explore the utility of quantum systems. Carrie is also interested in quantum education research, particularly at the postgraduate level, as well as understanding the ethical implications of quantum technologies.
