Al Alvarez - Biography

Editor of The New Poetry and friend and champion of poets such as Ted Hughes, Robert Lowell and Sylvia Plath, Al Alvarez helped define modern poetry for a generation.  A poet and author of books on everything from poker to rock climbing, Alvarez is perhaps best known for the study of suicide The Savage God.
