“Always on the side. Like a salad.” The perspective of a non-disabled researcher working with communities of disabled children, young people and their allies

As a non-disabled researcher, ‘looking in from the side’ can be a useful vantage point from which to explore the lives of communities of disabled people. But what are the pros and cons of being a researcher with a sideward glance? Is it a helpful and virtuous terrain to occupy?
