A brief history of antibiotics in primary care – and using prisms to reduce repeat offending

80% of all antibiotics consumed are prescribed by GPs and nurses in primary care. Professor Hay will present a brief historical perspective on the increasing use and abuse of antibiotics since the discovery of penicillin in 1928 and how recent primary care research could help prolong effectiveness for the 21st century.
