A journey into the brain: studying the CEO of the stress response

Stress-related psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety have become an increasing burden for many people as well as the society as a whole during the past decades. This lecture will provide an overview of the vital role of the brain in coordinating the stress response. Effects of stressful challenges on neurotransmitter systems and stress hormones will be addressed. The lecture will also explore how regular exercise contributes to improved coping with stressful events in our lives.
