How to measure residual stress in large engineering components

Stresses arise in engineering components or structures when they are subjected to a mechanical or thermal load as the material’s way of supporting and balancing this applied load. Making residual stress measurements in large engineering components is extremely challenging and this talk will discuss progress made over the last decade, utilising a series of real life examples to highlight measurement challenges, innovations, successes and failures.
