Pharaohs, princesses, priests and robbers -  recent research in the Valley of the Kings

A majority of tombs in the Kings’ Valley were not made for pharaohs. Very little research has so far been devoted to these “other tombs”, several even remaining entirely unexplored. The University of Basel Kings’ Valley Project attempts the reconstruction of their historical and social context. The discovery of a new tomb –KV 64– and the analysis of thousands of fragments of burial equipment found in KV 40 yield precious insight into the long and manifold history of the Valley.
