Bristol academic provides advice to the House of Lords on the future of nuclear research and technology in the UK.
The Cabot Institute’s Professor Tom Scott was appointed Special Adviser to the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee to consider the risks to the future of the UK nuclear sector.
Published this week, the Committee’s report recognises the impact Brexit will have on the sector and calls on the incoming Government to set out a decisive future for the industry.

The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee scrutinises Government policy by undertaking cross-departmental inquiries into issues such as public policy areas and technological challenges and opportunities.
The report, 'Nuclear research and technology: Breaking the cycle of indecision' calls on the Government to decide as a matter of urgency whether it wishes the UK to be a serious player in developing nuclear generation technology whether as a designer, manufacturer and operator, or to restrict its interest to being an operator of equipment supplied by others from overseas.
