Members of the public will have the opportunity to follow the trail of seven private gardens running through Stoke Bishop from Reedley Road to Old Sneed Park. Visitors will also have the chance to visit the Botanic Garden and take a guided stroll in the Old Sneed Park Nature Reserve.
Streams, pools, sculptures and specimen trees feature in the gardens taking part in the event, which has been organised by local residents.
Nick Wray, Curator of the Botanic Garden, said: “Last year’s Stoke Bishop Open Gardens was a great success and I am delighted that the Botanic Garden will participate once again. The garden relies on the support of Friends and volunteers and so we particularly welcome this community event where local people work together whilst enjoying beautiful gardens. We look forward to welcoming many visitors during the afternoon.”
Refreshments will be available in one of the open gardens, on the terrace at the Botanic Garden and in the Stoke Bishop Village Hall, where visitors can also view paintings of local rare native plants and purchase botanic prints and cards.
Entry to the gardens trail is by a passport costing £5 per person, accompanied children free, and can be purchased in advance at Aimee’s Wine House, Stoke Hill or or on the afternoon from Stoke Bishop Village Hall and all participating gardens.
All proceeds from the day will go to the University of Bristol Botanic Garden and the provision of hanging baskets in the centre of Stoke Bishop.
