Robin Geller, the new Registrar and Chief Operating Officer at the University of Bristol

The University of Bristol today [27 January] announced the appointment of Robin Geller as Registrar and Chief Operating Officer. Ms Geller, who is currently University Secretary and Registrar at Roehampton University, will take up the appointment in August of this year.

Since joining Roehampton University in 2006, Ms Geller has covered many key areas of strategic university management including legal, registry, central secretariat, human resources and corporate governance.  Prior to joining Roehampton, Ms Geller was Secretary-General at McGill University in Canada.

Commenting on the appointment, Professor Eric Thomas, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bristol, said:  “I am delighted that Robin has been appointed.  Robin will play a key role in building on Bristol’s world-renowned position and ensuring that we are best placed to meet the opportunities and challenges that face internationally leading universities like Bristol in the 21st Century.”

Ms Geller said:  “The University of Bristol has an outstanding reputation and track record and I am very much looking forward to working with its senior team as it enters the next phase of its development.”

As Registrar and Chief Operating Officer at Bristol Ms Geller will be a member of the University’s senior management team and will report to the Vice-Chancellor.  She will be responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the University’s support services* as well as leading on major projects.

Ms Geller holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada and an LLB in Common Law from the University of Ottawa. Prior to her roles in Higher Education, Ms Geller was an Associate Lawyer at McMillan Binch, a Research Officer for the Canadian Bar Association, a Research Officer in the Department of Justice of the Government of Canada and then Director of the National Gender Equality Programme at the Canadian Bar Association.
