Joanne Fletcher
Joanne Fletcher, Consultant Nurse Gynaecology, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 and in 1993 was appointed to the first Nurse Practitioner post in the UK to develop and manage a nurse-led abortion service. She qualified as a sonographer in 1999 and was appointed to her current post of Consultant Nurse Gynaecology in 2005, specialising in abortion, sonography and early pregnancy assessment. She frequently lectures on abortion, early pregnancy, sonography and advancing nursing roles. She has also worked on national GDGs for the RCOG, RCN & NICE. Joanne is the President of the Royal Society of Medicine Sexuality & Sexual Health Council, and a founding member & Co-chair of British Society of Abortion Care Providers.
