Title: Genomic structural equation modeling and the etiology of psychiatric/cognitive functioning.

Abstract: Educational outcomes and psychiatric disorders are the outcome of an immensely complex developmental process, yet successful GWAS has relied on the simplest of measures across a heterogeneous bunch of cohorts. Regardless of the crudeness of the outcomes used, GWAS summary results will likely proof vital to those who want to unravel the etiology of complex psychiatric disease and educational endpoints. I’ll talk about how GenomicSEM can contribute to this process, and perhaps more importantly what I feel are steps we, as a field, need to take to further our understanding of the etiology of psychiatric and educational endpoints.

Biography: Michel Nivard is an assistant professor of Biological Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
