Migration

About

The Migration Research Group brings together academics from various disciplinary and methodological backgrounds interested in all areas of scholarship on migration, refugees and asylum. The group builds upon the previous International Migration Research network at Bristol, but with an expanded remit including those with research interests in internal migration, and matters of refugee migration and asylum. Our members include staff, post docs, researchers, and doctoral students from across the Faculty and beyond. The groups aims are to promote lively discussion, cross-fertilisation, and collaboration possibilities within the University, and to make Bristol's range of migration research expertise accessible to external audiences. Our activities complement those of the Centre for the Study of Ethnicity and Citizenship

Our members research activities are grouped around six clusters:

We conduct theoretically informed empirically grounded research on a wide range of topics in many different areas of the world:

  • UK
  • Europe
  • South Asia
  • Southeast Asia
  • East Asia
  • Australia
  • Middle East
  • Africa
  • North America.
