The additional financial support element of the Bristol Scholars/Access to Bristol bursary will no longer be available for new students starting from the 2025/26 academic year. Financial support will instead be provided through the University of Bristol Bursary. Students already on the scheme will be unaffected.

Access to Bristol Bursary

An award contributing towards living costs for eligible new students who have completed the Access to Bristol scheme.

This award is for new students who have completed the Access to Bristol scheme.

You'll receive a bursary for living costs of £3,855 per year for the duration of your programme. As part of this bursary, you're also eligible for a discounted Active Plus Sports Pass.

Eligibility

To meet the eligibility criteria, you must have: 

  • Completed Access to Bristol/Pathways to Health Sciences
  • Selected Bristol as your firm choice in UCAS
  • An assessed household income of £25,000 or below

How to apply

All students who meet the eligibility criteria will automatically be considered for this bursary.

However, you must have applied for means tested support from Student Finance England or Student Finance Wales and have consented to share your household income with us.

About the bursary

Access to Bristol is an initiative that provides local students with an opportunity to experience life at the University of Bristol, gaining access to its academic expertise and facilities.

The scheme is designed as a curriculum enrichment opportunity for students studying A-levels or equivalents and is open to all students in the first or second year of A-level study.
