Personal profile

Dr Penny Walters is the Unit Director of the Consumer Behaviour Module at the University of Bristol, serves on the School of Management Ethics Committee, and is a member of ‘staff in attendance’ at University Court. Penny is currently the Business Studies External Examiner for Cambridge Education Group(CATS) University Foundation Programme (UFP). 

Penny is a part time Psychology degree Associate Lecturer for the Open University, including ‘Living Psychology,’ ‘Social Psychology’ and ‘Exploring Psychology.’ Penny is a facilitator for 2 MOOCs: ‘Growing as a Manager’ for The Chartered Management Institute (CMI)/ OU, and ‘The Digital Economy, Selling Through Customer Insight’ (OU Faculty of Business & Law).

Penny guest lectures internationally and write articles on a number of topics within genealogy, namely: ethical dilemmas in genealogy, the psychology of searching, adoption, diaspora, Irish heritage, the black British experience, mixing a paper trail with DNA results, ethnicity and identity. Penny is the author of ‘Ethical Dilemmas in Genealogy’ (May, 2019) and ‘The Psychology of Searching’ (February, 2020) and the founder of University of Bristol Family History Club (2019- present).
