Jane Campbell, Study Skills Tutor

Jane offers study skills tuition in Disability Services. She has experience of working with dyslexic people and more recently has been supporting students in further education colleges. She was a science teacher for eight years before moving into the literacy field. She also has experience of working with D/deaf students.

Cath Blazier, Disability Adviser

Cath Blazier has a specialism in dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. Her work includes providing information and advice to staff and students, working with the study skills tutors and meeting with students who think they might be dyslexic. Cath has a science background and is a qualified teacher. She also holds a post-graduate Certificate in Teaching Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties.

Sandie Cusack, Disability Adviser

Sandie Cusack has a background in government policy work on funding disabled students in higher education. She has a certificate of advanced professional studies in education in disability in post-compulsory education. She joined the University in 1997, initially organising courses for visually impaired students and providing support for hearing impaired students attending short courses. Currently she provides information, advice and support to students with mental health difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders.

Hal Draper, Counsellor and Deaf Awareness Trainer

Hal Draper is a qualified counsellor who has previously worked at the John Denmark National Centre for Mental Health and Deafness where he was a lecturer and counsellor. His responsibilities include providing counselling to D/deaf students when required, organising D/deaf awareness training programmes and workshops for hearing staff and students in the University and advising departments and university services about D/deaf access.

Catherine Feeny, Study Skills Tutor

Catherine offers study skills tuition within Disability Services. She has a Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties as well as a General Arts Degree and Postgraduate Certificate in Education. She worked with children who are dyslexic for several years, before moving into Further Education 10 years ago. Since then she has enjoyed supporting dyslexic students at different levels of study including HE.

Rachel Hamley, Disability Adviser

Rachel Hamley provides information, advice and support to D/deaf and hearing impaired students, students with physical and mobility difficulties, and unseen disabilities.  Rachel has worked in the area of disability support and advice in both Further and Higher Education since 1998 and also has experience of widening participation / consultation activities.

Sally Harvey offers study skills tuition within Disability Services. She is the Teacher in Charge of Outreach at Bristol Dyslexia Institute, and has a particular interest in teaching dyslexic adults. She recently completed her MEd on the role of teaching assistants.

Annie Wills, Study Skills Tutor / Dyslexia Screener

Annie Wills offers specialist study skills tuition and screening for dyslexia and scotopic sensitivity. She is a qualified teacher, has a postgraduate diploma in dyslexia studies and many years’ experience of teaching in further and higher education. Annie is a screener for the Irlen Institute, an associate member of the British Dyslexia Association and holds a practising assessors certificate.
