How to find Disability Services

For the location of Disability Services, please view the University Precinct map. The entrance is at the rear of the building.

By rail

There are two stations in Bristol: Temple Meads and Parkway. If there is an option, we recommend you go to Temple Meads, which is much closer and has bus services that go to the University. We recommend that you get a taxi from Parkway station.

By bus from Bristol Temple Meads Station

Bus number 9 runs from the station to Redland. There is a stop on the right as you exit the station. Ask for the Cotham Road: drivers will usually be prepared to advise you when you reach the stop (approx 13 stops). The stop is just after Hampton House.

To return to Temple Meads Station, catch the Number 9 bus on Cotham Road outside the church opposite Hampton House. Buses run at approximately 20-minute intervals.

There is also a taxi rank at the station, and the journey will cost about £7 from Temple Meads. Many of the taxis are London-style hackney carriages.

By road from the M5 North

  1. From the M5 take junction 17 signposted for Clifton, Severn Beach and Zoo.
  2. At the Roundabout take the A4018 towards Bristol West and Zoo.
  3. Continue along the A4018, going straight across at the roundabout and all sets of traffic lights.
  4. At the top of the hill you will pass Badminton School on your right. At the next roundabout (White Tree Roundabout) continue straight on over The Downs (This is 3.8 miles after leaving the motorway.)
  5. At the next (large) roundabout, turn left into a main thoroughfare, Whiteladies Road. Go down the hill, continuing straight over two pedestrian traffic lights.
  6. At a main junction opposite the BBC, get into the left hand lane and turn left into Tyndall’s Park Road.
  7. Continue towards the top of Tyndall Park Road, the entrance is on the left shortly after Woodland Road. Continue up the drive, Disability Services entrance is on the right to the rear of the building. Parking is adjacent and there is also a Disability Parking Bay and ramp access.

By road from the M5 South

  1. From the M5 take Junction 18 signposted for Avonmouth and Shirehampton.
  2. At the Roundabout take the A4 towards Clifton and Zoo.
  3. At the second set of traffic lights after the park & ride, turn left into Sylvan Way.
  4. At the next traffic lights turn right onto the B4054, Shirehampton Road. Continue along the B4054 until you reach a mini roundabout, and turn left onto Parry's Lane.
  5. At the top of Parry’s Lane, you will reach White Tree Roundabout. Turn right and continue with the directions above at Number 5.

By road from the M4 East

Either join the M5 and enter Bristol as above or via the M32 as follows:

  1. Continue to the end of the M32.
  2. Proceed along the A38 dual carriageway, following signs for City Centre.
  3. At the roundabout go straight on following signs for Clifton.
  4. Continuing straight on through all sets of traffic lights, you will pass the Wills Memorial Building and the Museum on your right.
  5. Take the right hand fork around the Triangle and then get into the left lane and follow the one way system to the roundabout.
  6. At the roundabout, take the third exit (outside Habitat), Elton Road.
  7. Bear left and continue to the junction with Tyndall Park Road. Turn right and continue up Tyndall Park Road, passing Woodland Road, the entrance is on the left.
