Hippocampal imaging in early Alzheimer's disease

This study is looking for older volunteers ~60+ years of age who have either:

  • A diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI)
  • Concerns about their memory, but no diagnosis related to memory problems
  • No memory problems.
The study involves:
  • Two separate visits to CRICBristol - four weeks apart, each lasting approximately two hours
  • An MRI scan of the head lasting approximately 30 minutes
  • Various memory tasks.

During the study we will use MRI to measure the size of the part of your brain responsible for memory formation. We will also assess various aspects of your memory and cognition using neuropsychological tests. We will assess any changes in your memory or brain structure when you are invited to repeat the study after 1 year.

We will cover any travel expenses incurred as a result of your participation in this study.
