We welcome academic visitors to the Bristol Composites Institute, to work with us on collaborative projects.

A limited number of funding awards are available to selected applications, up to £500 towards one economy fare return flight to the UK and up to three months of bench fees.

Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professorships
The purpose of this scheme is to bring distinguished researchers from abroad to Bristol. The award covers travel, accommodation and subsistence for up to £800 per month.

Churchill Fellowship
The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust’s scheme is open for researchers in science, technology and engineering to make a difference collaborating with researchers overseas. The next round of applications closes on 17 September 2019 for travel in 2020 and beyond.

Commonwealth Scholarships
This scheme is open for UK universities to attract the brightest talent to UK universities. Through these awards the universities can build long-term research collaborations and partnerships.

Distinguished Visiting Fellowships from the Royal Academy of Engineering
This is a prestigious mobility programme which enables an engineering institution in a UK university to host visits from world leading internationally-based researchers from an overseas academic centre of excellence, for visits lasting up to one month.

EPSRC Overseas Travel Grants
The Overseas Travel Grant provides funding for international travel to build collaboration with overseas universities or industrial organisations. For more detail about the scheme, eligibility and application process, please visit EPSRC’s website.
Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorships
For UK institutions to invite an eminent researcher from overseas to enhance the skills and knowledge of the academic staff and/or students. More information can be found on the Leverhulme Trust website.
Maria Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships
The European and Global Fellowships are open for experiences researchers from across the world and the grant provides an allowance to cover living, travel and family costs. The grant is awarded to the host organisation, usually a university, research centre or company in Europe.

Newton Mobility Grants
The Royal Society’s grant supports international researchers with funding towards their travel, subsistence and research expenses to collaborate with researchers in Brazil, Thailand and Turkey.

Royal Society International Exchanges
These schemes are for scientists based in the UK who want to stimulate collaborations with leading scientists overseas through either a one-off visit or bilateral travel.

UKRI UK-Canada Doctoral Exchange Scheme
The scheme will enable up to 200 UKRI-funded doctoral students to participate in research placements in Canadian Universities. The scheme will support travel, living and research costs. The programme will open for applications in autumn 2019 and the first exchanges will take place from April 2020. The programme will be delivered by Mitacs.
