Bristol Pioneers

Leading philanthropy at the University of Bristol

Transforming ideas into reality

Make an impact

Donors giving £1,000 or more to the University in a single academic year are recognised as Bristol Pioneers. Such inspirational gifts enable Bristol to transform ideas into reality quickly and efficiently, to develop facilities and resources in the most meaningful way and to support bright minds that will go on to impact our world. As a special thank you in this final year of the University's Centenary Campaign, all 2013/14 Bristol Pioneers will be honoured by name on individual seat plaques in the new Priory Road lecture theatre as an acknowledgement of your generous support.

Be a leader

Having your name on the list of Bristol Pioneers will inspire your peers to consider their gift and remind others of the importance of supporting higher education.

Becoming a Bristol Pioneer

Pioneer gifts can be made by setting up a monthly, quarterly or annual direct debit, or through a single gift by cheque, CAF voucher, credit card or a gift of shares. Bristol Pioneer membership is based on the academic year (1 August to 31 July).

UK taxpayers may take advantage of Gift Aid to make a Pioneer gift. If you are paying UK income or capital gains tax, the University is able to claim a further £200 for every £800 that you give, meaning your £800 gift would have a Pioneer value of £1,000 for Bristol. A higher rate tax payer giving £800 could reclaim a further £200 on their self-assessment tax return.

Thanking our Pioneers

Bristol Pioneers are personally thanked by the Vice Chancellor, receive additional reports on the University’s progress and, unless anonymous, are specially highlighted in Bristol’s Annual Report and annual list of donors. In addition, all 2013/14 Bristol Pioneers will be honoured by name on individual seat plaques in the new Priory Road lecture theatre as an acknowledgement of your generous support in this final year of the University's Centenary Campaign.

The Bristol Pioneers’ exclusive annual reception, held in London on the 2nd Wednesday in October, offers a chance to speak personally with the Vice-Chancellor and to hear from guest speakers including celebrated academics and alumni giving an update on the University, forthcoming changes in higher education policy, and the importance of philanthropic support to Bristol.
