From August 1st 2008 every £1 you give to your University could be worth £1.66
In support of the work that Universities do – in changing lives, unlocking knowledge, furthering research, creating opportunities and impacting everyday lives on a global scale – the UK government has launched a programme to increase the value of donations made to English Universities by a third for the next three years.
If you are a UK taxpayer we can claim the tax you have already paid on this gift through Gift Aid, increasing the value of your £1 to £1.25. The Government Gift Match will then increase the value of your £1 again by adding a third to your Gift Aided donation, increasing the value of your original gift by two-thirds.
Thanks to gifts made during 2008/09, £412,000 of government matched funding has been unlocked for the benefit of Bristol.

- If you are a higher rate tax payer your £1 is still worth £1.66 to Bristol, but you can claim back the higher rate tax you have paid on your gift through your tax return, so your donation of £1.66 will only cost you 75 pence!
- If you are not a UK taxpayer or donating from overseas the UK government will still increase your gift by a third, so every £1 you donate will be worth £1.33.
