A one day meeting on Imaging was held on Wednesday 23rd May 2007 at Engineers House, Clifton, Bristol
There has been an accelerated development of advanced imaging techniques over the last two decades. Imaging Techniques now comprise many highly developed methods such as NMR, MRI, AFM, SEM, TEM and SPM that are widely used in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, medicine, materials science, physics, engineering and other fields.
This one day meeting provided a forum for the presentation of recent advances in Imaging Techniques, their applications and associated sciences including:
- Electron Microscopy - Sean Davis, University of Bristol
- Scanning Probe Microscopy - Mervyn Miles, University of Bristol
- Infinite focus microscope - Stefan Scherer and Brian Kyte, Alicona Imaging Ltd.
- MRI-NMR Imaging - Youssef Espidel, University of Bristol
- Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis - Jeremy Warren, Nanosight
- Imaging of Pharmaceutical excipients - Shellie Rigby-Singleton, Molecular Profiles
Imaging techniques have been used in various applications including: drug delivery, food absorption, catalyst development, polymer solutions, crystallography, inter-particle adhesion forces and oil recovery. Certain Imaging techniques have found widespread application in a particular field, for example Magnetic Resonance imaging (MRI) is used extensively in medicine. However, MRI is also widely applicable to problems in other scientific fields such as materials science.
