In Design Project 4 each student will undertake part of a large project as an individual activity. The project will be designed to give each student an opportunity to develop expertise in a technical field that will later provide valuable input during execution of EMATM0028 Design Project 5. Each student's project will have separate objectives and reporting. The project will involve investigation into the design, and analysis of existing designs of a type of artefact, component or system. The conception and development of physical or virtual models will be used to improve understanding. The student will be expected to become a specialist in the design of the chosen artefact, component or system. The project will include an appreciation of the economic justification of a system and other evaluation methodologies used for engineering projects.
