The aim of this unit is to give students a sound understanding of the interrelationship between engineering processes and the wider context within which they operate, including sustainability, commercial / economic, legal, health, safety, risk and ethical issues. Also, the unit is designed in a way to develop essential transferable skills including effective communication, good report writing, team and project working. The unit also aims to build an appreciation of the concept of continuously adding value at the personal level and prospectively within an employment enterprise. This unit will share the same lecture programme with the PS B unit. However, it will have a more demanding research-based assessment process.
