By the end of the unit students will have the understanding that the impact and experience of illness will vary according to a person’s personality, life history and socio-cultural background.
Teaching is provided by the School of Social and Community Medicine and comprises a mixture of: Lectures Small group tutorials Visits to primary care Follow-up presentations of experiences of meeting patients Clinical demonstrations Library-based project work.
Students submit a creative essay of 2000 words (amounts to 20% of unit mark). Tutors need to be assured that an authentic effort has been made to complete the assignment, word count late submission penalties will be incurred.
