Description including Unit Aims

Prepare students to perform independent research in robotics and autonomous systems

Intended Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to: 1. Critically evaluate developments in robotics and autonomous systems. 2. Identify, access and interpret state-of-the-art research literature. Communicate research findings, orally and in written form, to both specialist and general audiences.

Teaching Information

Research methods lectures; reading group seminars; communications short course

•Research methods: 1hr/wk in TB1

•Reading group: 1hr/wk in TBs 1,2,3

•Communications: 24hrs in single week short course

Assessment Information

•20% - participation in reading group wiki (summative)

•30% - presentations to reading group (formative and summative)

•50% - final research proposal presentation including Q&A (summative)
