Description including Unit Aims

This unit will involve students working in small production teams with the objective of producing a short CG production or specific special-effects shot. Each team will be expected to decide upon a creative design, investigate its technical feasibility and to produce a complete film or special effects shot. The work will involve all aspects of creative production design and technical implementation. Teams will attend a team-building workshop at the beginning of the unit to familiarise themselves with the problems and benefits of working in a team. The aim of the Production Project unit is to provide students with the opportunity to gain experience in the production of a complete CG film or special effects shot. Students will experience the entire production pipeline from concept to final render and importantly experience working as part of a small production team under the pressure of limited time and resources.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Successful completion of this unit will enable students to: Understand the problems involved in realising creative aspirations under the constraint of limited technical resources or performance Gain experience of producing a completed CG production within tight design and time constraints Understand the dynamics of working as part of a small group involving both creative and technical expertise and experience
